Hello, I am following the youtube tutorial for the Picar X, [https://youtu.be/i5FpY3FAcyA?si=8mga7gH2\_btzan8U](https://youtu.be/i5FpY3FAcyA?si=8mga7gH2_btzan8U).

At the 8:05 time, when running sudo bash i2samp.sh I get the error:

The i2s amplifier installer
does not work on this version of Raspbian.
Check [GitHub: Let’s build from here · GitHub](https://github.com//)
for additional information and support

My version of Raspbian my Raspberry Pi 4B model is Raspbian GNU/ Linux 12. Do you have any advice on how this issue can be solved? Would downloading an older version of Raspbian fix the problem? I am new to using Raspberry Pi and I ran sudo apt upgrade -y so I think my pi is most up to date on the newest version of Raspbian.

Are you currently using a bookworm version of the Raspberry Pi system?
If so, i2samp.sh is not compatible with the bookworm version of the Raspberry Pi system, so picar-x will not sound.
If you install an older version (legacy), it is possible to solve the problem, and picar-x can get normal sound. (As shown in the picture)

Is it still the case that the speaker does not work with Bookworm? I am considering upgrading to an RPi 5 and the Raspberry Pi OS Legacy version is not an option in the Raspberry Pi Imager for RPi5. The Picar-X is sold as compatible with RPi 5, but the instructions online for the Python install indicates it is only applicable to RPi 4.

Now that the picar-x product is compatible to work with the bookworm system, the speakers are also working.
You can download and install the bookworm system, then go ahead and install all the library code for the picar-x product and see how it works.

How would I go about re-installing the OS?
Do I, unplug the Robot Hat V44, remove it, & start a new installation?
If so, when do i re-plug the Hat, servos & sensors? What makes me nervous is all the servos have been screwed in…I don’t want to risk breaking them- do they need to be unattached to the servo arms they are screwed into?

You do not need to remove the hardware.
You need to format your SD card and reinstall the Raspberry Pi Bookworm system.
Follow our tutorial steps to download and install all the library codes on the Bookworm system: [Install All the Modules](https://docs.sunfounder.com/projects/picar-x-v20/en/latest/python/python_start/install_all_modules.html).
Once all the codes are successfully installed, try running the example code to see if it works properly.
