It is always fun to warm up the technical assembly machine that I become when faced with tactile tasks like this one. Those little, tiny screws. The build was easy though, as was my previous Pironman 5 not so long ago. Only one spot in the pictorial instructions where I thought something additional would be nice. It is Step 16 where I am placing the dual NVMe PIP above the USB HDMI Adapter. There is a four-pin extender from the adapter board into the underside of the NVMe PIP that isn’t mentioned. Maybe a note to be aware of the connection occurring under the NVMe PIP would be sufficient. It lines up pretty good naturally. Thanks again for a challenging kit.

My Pironman 5 MAX is working great. Yes, it is quite intrikit and the screws are small. The powerswitch adapter is a bit tricky, and the four-pin extender was a little tricky too. I expected that, having built the original Pironman 5 some months ago. I’m mildly amazed how well this stuff works when the pieces and cables are so small. I’ll be 80 next month. My eyesight is not great. I also have arthritis in my hands.

This is my first 16GB Pi5. It is faster to perform everyday tasks like web browsing and reading emails. This performance increase should have nothing to do with being the Pironman 5 MAX – it’s the extra 8GB of RAM. I’ve read that the 16GB Pi5 benchmarks slower than the 8 GB. I don’t believe that.

I have been working on my two RPi5 Pironman units the past couple of days, a base model I built back in February and the new MAX that I built 4 days ago. When I built the base model, I installed a 1 TB SSD and had it booting off of that. When I ordered the MAX, I also ordered a 500 MB SSD. I was planning to put both the 1 TB SSD and the AI Kit Hailo card in the MAX and the 500 MB SSD in the base unit. I finally got that all working earlier this morning. I have been checking things with the Geekbench 6 benchmarking, including my laptop which is blazingly fast, and I come up with very similar numbers for both the base model and the MAX. The single-core and multi-core number for each respectively is 886/2047 and 885/2043. I’m only familiar with benchmarking to the extent that a larger number might be better. More things to learn everyday.

Under normal conditions, the benchmark scores for the Pironman 5 Max and the base model are indeed quite similar when using SSDs.
Wishing you continued success with your projects!

Just built a Max, I have 2 of the initial models. Only wish is for a better way to route a camera cable. One Pironman5 running Pihole, one running NextCloud for backups and trying to get the new Max running with camera and the Hailo.

Thought about that too. Need to pull panels and study it some more. There are two camera ports, maybe one of them is aligned better with the rear exit slot. The tutorial deals mainly with object identification using Hailo AI. I hope there will be other AI functions or projects involving a neural network that can be experimented with. Have to read up on what this edge computing is all about.

Same here. Have to get a longer cable. Had the best luck with the camera socket farthest from the ethernet socket. Used the Hailo on a P4 but very slow on the USB. We do AI with a bunch of surveillance cameras at the office I take care of. Difference between men and boys? Cost of their toys!
