I was looking to pick up an NVME drive and seen the Samsung 990 Pro was compatible. Amazon has the 2TB with or without a heatsink (only a $10 difference). I figured the extra heat sink wouldn’t hurt, but does anyone know if the drive would fit with the heatsink vs without? It appears that the heatsink does come off, but will void warranty (looks like there’s a sticker to rip through to remove the heatsink). I’m guessing I don’t even need the heatsink since I’m not going to be doing anything that’s a non stop drive read/write, but for $10 difference, I was considering it.
Decided to just order it. It works, but I had to use both offset risers to get it to screw down. One wasn’t enough. From power on, now only takes 8 seconds to boot and get to the desktop.
Thanks for sharing ssd heatsink mounting is indeed an issue, some heatsinks come with rubber elastic bands to hold them in place.
