What’s the case with the usage of Jumper on 8 Channel Relay board? Document says it’s for powering up the relays but in which scenarios this is needed?
the document says also the board can be used both with 5v and 12v, and the relays type code says 5v. Are these cases connected?
Thank you
The jumper is used to connect the signal power and the relay drive power. The signal power can be 3.3V, while the drive power needs to be 5V. Therefore, if you are using a 3.3V microcontroller to drive the relay, you need to remove the jumper cap and connect the 5V power supply to the RY-VCC pin, and the 3.3V power supply to the VCC pin. This way, the 3.3V device can also use this relay.
Additionally, where is the document you mentioned? We have not seen anywhere that it states it supports 12V operation.
Digikey has one document saying TS0012 operation 5V, 12V
Maybe it’s so that you can drive the pins at 12V but then one needs to use external 5V for the RY-VCC.
We got this specification wrong and it only supports 5V. Thanks for the reminder, we will arrange to modify the document.
