While assembling my 5 max on my pi 5, I could not get the controller fan to fit. It bumped on the fpc that runs to the NVMePIP. Has anyone else had this issue?
The two parts are indeed quite close together. Normally you can just gently bend/adjust the cable by hand and it won’t actually press against the fan.
Could you send us a short video or a few photos showing exactly where the fan bumps into the cable? Please upload them to Google Drive (or another cloud drive), share the link with us, and set the link permission to “Anyone with the link can view” so we can review them. we see it, we’ll help you figure it out.
Ok. It’s run ing as a home server but I can take it down for a while
The controller fan and the FPC cable to the NVMe PIP are indeed quite close by design — usually you can just gently bend the cable away from the fan and it fits.
That said, it’s actually quite rare for the FPC cable to bump into the tower cooler’s fan blades, so we’d first like to check whether the tower cooler is installed slightly off-position or at the wrong angle, causing it to interfere with the cable or fan.
If possible, could you send a short video or a few photos clearly showing where the tower cooler bumps into the fan/cable? And could you confirm whether the tower cooler is installed exactly as in the official tutorial (orientation, mounting, fully pressed into place)? Please upload to Google Drive (or another cloud service) and share the link set to “Anyone with the link can view”.
We understand your device is running as a home server and needs downtime to film — thanks for your patience. Once we have the photos/video, we’ll get back to you quickly.
