Failure to start

Yesterday I built a Pironman 5. I used a NVMe SSD for the OS. It ran right away on first power up. I had the same issue as other member, no OLED, no RGB, fans stayed running. I did eventually get that worked out, I went back to the tutorials page and went through slowly step at a time. By the end of the day, all worked as they should. I experimented with the browser and the files etc. I experimented with the dashboard and features. I turned the Pironman off and on several times over a period of a couple hours while learning my was around the desktop layout.

I then shut it down for the night and went back to my Windows computer to watch news. I had no audio yet for the Pi.

Today I was going to attempt to connect the Pi to a Bluetooth speaker I had laying around the house. But the Pironman today will not power up.
It worked perfect last night when I shut it off and removed the ethernet and mouse and keyboard, putting those back to my win desektop.
Today I plugged the keyboard, mouse and ehternet cable in. turned the power on. The red light comes on, but Pi5 will not run.

As of now, I have taken the pironman apart down to the Raspberry pi 5 board and plugged the power cable directly into that. The red led by the power button stays red. No fan activity at all. I have pushed once. I have pushed twice in succession and have held the button for over 5 or 6 seconds. The red led stays red. no response.

Any advice?
I have re-assembled but I have no problem with taking it apart again and I own a multi-meter.

We suggest you provide a video of the problem for us to see, so that we can help you analyze and solve the problem.
What is the specification of the power supply you are currently using? We recommend that you use the official PI5 power adapter to power the PI5.
What if you remove the Pi5 from the pironman5 chassis and use a power supply to power the PI5 alone to see if it powers up properly?

I have another vid using a different supply, also 5A x 5V.

Here is with case and working.

Was the heatsink’s wiring disconnected from the PI5 port before reconnecting the power supply?

If the heatsink’s wiring was disconnected and the PI5 is still only showing a red light when powered on, it suggests the PI5 might be damaged.

What are the specifications of the PI5 you are using?

Is an acrylic E-plate installed on your IO expansion board? This is to prevent the heatsink from directly contacting the PI5’s GPIO pins, which could cause a short circuit.

Yes. I have done both with and without the heatsink connected. The last and final test was doing the Pi5 alone. On a hunch I connected a multimeter across the start button. It appears to be shorted, though I have been unable to determine if the button is ‘normally open’ or ‘normally closed’. Regardless the meter showed zero ohms with button pushed or not pushed.

I have since contacted the reseller and have shipped back for a refund. Once refunded I will buy a new one.

You asked about specs. It was a 8gb unit.

Thanks for all your help.
Robert

We did not see the successful case video you uploaded when we responded to you.

From the video you uploaded, it seems that the Pironman 5 case is not starting up normally, correct? Is it a another Pironman 5 case, or did you replace it with another PI5?

The Pi5 board doesn’t run even after removing from the case. I have sent the unit back to seller for refund. will look at purchasing a new unit later.
Thanks.
