I put together the whole kit (I also have a pi4 pironman case as well which works great.) Knowing that the new pi5 takes a different PSU (27w) I bought one and hooked it up. When I finished putting everything together and installing Ubuntu, I hit the power button… Nothing… Made sure it was plugged in, checked by plugging in my pixel 7a, charging light popped up… Tried fiddling with the wire, still nothing. So I unplugged my pi4 power cord from the pironman4, plugged it into the pironman 5, clicked the switch, boom, fired right up! However, once Ubuntu loads, it complains that the PSU isn’t sufficient, that I need more power. In the pictures attached, the white PSU is the 27w psu (it doesn’t have a power switch in the line). The black one is a the canakit PSU with an inline switch. Does anyone know why it won’t power on without a PSU that has an inline switch!?
If you disassemble the Pironman 5 and power the PI5 separately with a 27W power supply, will it start up normally? If the PI5 powers on correctly when supplied separately but fails to start when you connect our USB HDMI adapter, we will send you a replacement USB HDMI adapter.
I’ll take it apart and make a video, that way either way, anyone who has this issue can see what happens. More to come, thank you for the quick response!
Hi I recently bought the Pironman 5 case and I noticed the same issue with original 27w power supply. Can I try something to solve the problem? I also wrote to sunfounder service at service@sunfounder.com
1.Please remove the PI5 separately and power it with the 27W power supply to see if it starts and operates normally.
2.Connect the 27W power supply to the PI4 or another 5V device to check if it can provide power normally.
If the 27W power supply can power the PI5 or another 5V device independently, it may indicate an issue with the USB HDMI adapter. In that case, we will send you a new USB HDMI adapter to see if it resolves the problem.
Thank you for the support, i received the replacement and now it works perfectly
I had the same problem with my raspberry pi 5, it would not power on. I bought three different chargers, one of them being the official raspberry pi charger. It charges and boots up normal without the pironman 5. I believe it’s the same issue of the usb hdmi adapter, is there any way I can get a replacement ?
Just contact them at service@sunfounder.com

Hi Sunfounder I already assembled the Pironman 5, checked all data cables but the Pironman 5 do not power on. I used also the original 27W power
adapter from Raspberry…Should I completely disassemble the case or what can I try to bring the pironman 5 to live Or may be a adapter like HDMI/USB doesn’t work correctly. Thnx in advance for your help
1.Please try flipping the Type-C power connector and reinserting it to see if it can provide normal power to the pironman5. First, make sure that the USB-HDMI adapter is properly connected to the PI5. It’s recommended to unplug and replug it.
2.If the first step still doesn’t provide power to the pironman5, please remove the USB-HDMI adapter and connect the power supply directly to the PI5 to see if it can power on normally. If it does, this indicates that there is a problem with the USB-HDMI adapter, and we will send you a replacement.
Thnx for the reply…I have sent you an e-mail with screenshots. I found two things which may be could responsible for the issue (described in the email with screenshots). I will test your tips later and report
To Point 1: I tried your tip. But unfortunately the Pi5 had no power. And to point 2: I removed the USB-HDMI adapter and connected the adapter directly to the Pi5. And voila, there was power.
