GalaxyRVR New Builder

I just received my new SunFounder GalaxyRVR Mars Rover Kit and I’m very excited about it. I will begin assembly very soon as I prepare a workplace for it. SunFounder provides exceptional customer service and product support so I know this will be a successful build.

Your kind words mean a lot to our team.
It is always our goal to ensure a positive experience for our customers.

I began assembly today and have everything put together. The instructions were exceptionally clear and detailed. I am impressed with the quality of this kit and it is even better than I expected. I’m 61 years old and having fun with this! I will complete the programming and everything else tomorrow.

If any further adjustments are needed, please don’t hesitate to inform us.

I have the assembly completed with no problems so far. But now I’m trying to learn to drive the Rover with my phone and I’m having trouble. I can’t find the RoboPilot app on the Google app store. Any suggestions?

I believe that the generic Sunfounder Controller app can be used instead.

Thanks for the reply. I had already installed the SunFounder controller app from the Google Play Store and it will load but I can’t access the RVR wifi. I will try to refresh the firmware for the camera and the R3 and see if that helps.

Sorry our documentation was updated too early. The new app, RoboPilot, has already been uploaded to Google Play and is currently waiting for approval. That’s why you cannot find it yet.

The SunFounder Controller is the older software, which requires you to configure the old code and firmware accordingly.

Please refer to the following links (if they become accessible again) for guidance:

Alternatively, please wait a while and try again later.

Thank you for the information. I will continue to try the current app method. Many thanks.

I continue to be unable to connect the SunFounder phone app with the ESP32 Camera wifi. However, the ESP32 is generating wifi and my phone connects with it. Trying to manually connect with the SunFounder controller app always results in connection failure. Automatic connection tries to sync but never gives a message. The red light flashes on the esp32. I replaced the 5-pin cable to the esp32 just in case but was unable to connect with wifi. I’ve followed the directions many times. I do not know what is wrong. Any suggestions are appreciated.

After powering on the GalaxyRVR, what effect does the bottom light show? Does it flash yellow?

After receiving the GalaxyRVR, have you uploaded any other code to the Uno R3? If so, you will need to re-upload the code that allows communication with the SunFounder Controller.

Additionally, have you manually updated the firmware for the ESP32 CAM? If yes, please revert it back to version 1.4.2:

We sincerely apologize for the trouble caused by the transition between our old and new documentation.

I can operate the RVR for quite some time using my home wifi. The camera works as does everything else. But I need help on how to manually upload the 1.4.1 camera firmware. Thank you.

Thank you for the links. I saw them earlier when I first encountered the problem.

I successfully uploaded v1.4.0, 1.4.1, and 1.4.2. had some difficulties but eventually was able to successfully upload each version. Each one provided similar operation, with all of them disconnecting at various times from the AP wifi. All of the app features worked good at times and very slow at other times. My right proximity sensor is no longer able to reach beyond about 10 cm and the left sensor works fine in its place. I reflashed the R3 to make sure the board was ok. I may have a problematic ESP32 Cam but I will wait for an improved control code. Thank you for your ongoing customer service.

You can adjust the detection distance by turning the potentiometer on the right sensor.

Regarding the connection issue with the ESP32 CAM — we have indeed optimized its internal firmware. However, the new firmware is not compatible with the SunFounder Controller. You will need to download the new app, RoboPilot.

Please be patient and wait for our documentation to be updated.

I rolled back to 1.4.0 and 1.4.1 and it continues to disconnect. Hopefully there will be an update soon. Thank you.
