I just moved my Home Assistant installation to a Raspberry Pi 5/16 with no issues with the move. The Pi is installed in a Pironman 5 case (which I really like, especially for it’s SSD support, and I enjoyed assembling it). I have added the Piroman 5 and the Pironman Pi Config Wizard add ons to Home Assistant and configured them. Running these added about 1.5 to 2 percent to the CPU load (nothing big but the load before was around two percent).
Here’s something I don’t like: when I shutdown the Prionman 5 Home Assistant add on the two case GPIO fans stop and the LEDs on them go out. I would like to not have the add on active but don’t want the fans to stop (because the CPU temperature increases approximately 4 degrees F) or the LEDs to go out. Does anyone have any suggestions on this? It would be nice to be able to control the fans without the need for the Pironman 5 addon to be running.
I’m also exploring how to expose the fans to Home Assistant so I can use automations or manual controls for them, so if anyone has insight into this, please let me know.
It would be better if the fans could be controlled without running the Pironman 5 plugin, right?
Currently the RGB fans on the MAX chassis require the Pironman 5 software to be running to function properly.
This design was implemented based on feedback from the majority of our users, as many prefer that the RGB fans do not start automatically with the system. The fans only activate after the Pironman 5 software is installed and launched.
We kindly ask for your understanding. It is difficult for us to meet every single user’s specific needs, so we have to prioritize satisfying the requirements of the majority.
Installing the Pironman Pi Config Wizard plugin is solely to enable I2C and SPI services. This is necessary because the OLED screen requires the I2C interface, and the onboard RGB LED requires the SPI pins for control.
