Is Robot HAT V4 (with speaker, batch 01902V42) compatible with Raspberry Pi 5?

Hi,

I have a Robot HAT V4 with a built-in speaker (batch number: 01902V42).

I would like to know if this version is compatible with Raspberry Pi 5.

The official PiDog documentation says the standard version is not compatible with RPi5, but I’ve seen claims online that the newer V4 with speaker has been updated to support RPi5.

Could anyone from SunFounder confirm whether my board (01902V42) supports Raspberry Pi 5?

Thank you!

Thank you for your inquiry.
The Robot HAT V5 is fully compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5.
For basic motor and servo control, the V4 can also work with the Pi 5.
However, please be aware of the following limitations with the V4:

Power output – The Robot HAT V4 outputs 5V/3A, while the Raspberry Pi 5 officially requires 5V/5A.
As a result, you will see a warning on the Pi desktop indicating that the power supply is not a PD 5V/5A source.

WiFi impact – Some customers have reported that this may affect WiFi performance (though this is not universal).

Software – The Robot HAT V4 and V5 use the same software; no special configuration or driver update is needed.

Please let me know if you have any further questions.
