Pidog Ver.2 can't establish its first connection to WIFI right after OS installation via Raspberry Pi imager

My pidog (Version 2) which works on top of the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W don’t want to appear in the DHCP table of my tp-link router. I used 64 GB Transcend SD card. WiFi router has 2GHz and 5 GHz modes. I tried to connect to both when installing OS and failed each time.

At first sight and fast checking the hardware connections and cables all is in its place. However, my 10 years old son himself managed to construct the pidog.

I don’t use another option of SSH authentication named “with certificate”, not with password. Probably must try to use this method.

The problem is that SSH doesn’t work because I can’t find out IP adress of the pidog.

The lights on the Robot Hat+ 5 shines with help of three indicators. On the side of the pidog there is one more light indicator.

From the image you provided, the power supply and the Robot HAT seem to be working fine. The issue now might be that your Raspberry Pi is not connected to the network.

We recommend connecting an HDMI display to check whether the WiFi is connected.

Alternatively, you could reflash the system. Make a note of the hostname, username, and password, and enter the correct WiFi credentials (SSID and password). Then try logging in via SSH using ssh username@hostname.local.

Thank you for the reply. Unfortunately I don’t have HDMI cable to connect my Linux laptop with the Raspberry Pi Zero 2W board, so I’ll try on with SSH method. For creation OS I used Win11 laptop with proper imager as in docs.

Of course I noted all these data(pass, name) when the OS was created on top of the SD card. I carefully went through screenshots and documentation during installation. And I also agree that my Pidog isn’t connect to the network because of hardware misconstruction or some firewall-router issues.

If I succeed I’ll write here my own way with this hardware-network troubleshoot.

P.S: I already tried to switch all firewall settings that is in “ON” state as on the attached photo to “OFF”. But still no

You could try removing the Zero 2W and powering it on separately to see if its IP address appears on the router.

Alternatively, did you configure Raspberry Pi Connect during setup? If your Zero 2W is already connected to the network, you should see an online indicator in Raspberry Pi Connect.

I still recommend using a screen connected to the Zero 2W via a Mini HDMI cable—that way you can see the boot process and Wi-Fi connection status of the Raspberry Pi.
