RPI4B with Pironman V2 all LEDs still white

I’ve made a new OS installation rpi os full 64bits bookworm on RPI4B 8gb rev 1.5, all update\upgrades are done, install pi-apps for some others apps, all updated. Rebooted rpi, fallow steps for pironman V2 installation, all goods, blue light breath, display is ok, then press Y to reboot and then, all LEDs are white, whatever the pironman config, still white, no motion… Seems to be software problem but which one? Need helps!

  1. Are all the short connectors on the motherboard connected? (As shown in the picture)

  2. Please provide logs to us, so that we can analyze and solve the problem. (Log path /opt/pironman/log)

  3. Please execute sudo pironman start command to restart the pironman software service to see the RGB working status.

  4. Please provide us with a video of the problem, so that we can analyze and solve the problem.

There is log file, I try sudo pironman start, no change.

For now, led display and fan are working, but LEDs not working. I’ve plug second power-supply, no change. I’m not sure if there a problem avec USB3 ports, cause there the jumper to used SSD as boot drive and I have USB3 hub powered in the second USB3 port… If I start with OS on microSD-card, all works fine. I’ve done all instructions step-by-step for SSD boot, make a microSD card for USB booting. I hope there’s enough informations to help me. My SSD is TimeTec m.2 sata iii ssd 512 gb 3.3V, 1.5A.

OMG, I shutdown my RPI, remove the second power supply(on RPI board), plug my USB3 hub into USB(not USB3), startup RPI and all works fine. Conflits with USB3 ports between jumper and Hub. Any issues to fix it? I want to use my hub to plug HDDs for NAS.

1.You try to use Type-C cable instead of USB bridge to connect and try to work.
2.You can try to use SD card to work with pironman to see if the same situation will occur.
3. You can also reinstall the Raspberry Pi system to the SSD, and then install the pironman software service to see how it works.

I try usb-c cable instead of USB bridge, no change. Try OS on micro-sd card boot, no change. New OS installation on SSD like instructions on Pironman v2 docs, differents type of OS, all compatibles, listed, no change.

And now, new problem, no sound on HDMI output, i tried alot of stuffs in forums, raspi-config, modifications into boot/config.txt to forced HDMI, … nothing work. I tried Recalbox alone in a microsd card, nothing happen, no sound, no image. Like in automotive diagnostic, always put in stock version, remove all aftermarket accessories. So I unplug all the Pironman V2 from my RPI4B board, insert Recalbox’s sd card and powered it up, work fine, sound and image, i shut it down, insert Rasbian OS sd card, work great and sound work. My conclusion, the problem came from Pironman V2 board, I don’t know how and why but something wrong with the board.

Now I re-assemble all together, inspect every connections, boot it up directly from microsd card, no SSD/USB bridge, everything work fine, but for how long?

We need to send you a new motherboard, an after-sales colleague will contact you through your email later.

Ok, thanks alot for your help.

Hello, I have a question, do you have a great book or web site to learn coding in python? I’ve some good ideas for LEDs motions but how to put them in codes… I’m kind of novice but I want to learn.

Best regards

David Gibeault

We have a Python course available for you to take with this Raspberry Pi kit, check out the Python course link for this kit:
https://docs.sunfounder.com/projects/raphael-kit/en/latest/python_pi5/play_with_python_pi5.html

Also, for the video lessons that accompany this kit, check out this link:https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLGs0VKk2DiYxdMjCJmcP6jt4Yw6OHK85O

The Raspberry Pi motherboard is not included in this kit though. If you’re looking to lower your budget a bit, I’d also recommend taking a look at another kit.

This kit is the one that includes the Pioc w motherboard so that you don’t need to purchase a separate motherboard, except that the course is about learning MicroPython, which is small-bodied Python that is typically written for small embedded development boards. For most of the syntax, MicroPython is not much different from Python, except that Python is a bit more powerful.

I hope this information helps you.

I discovered new details about the LEDs problem, when I add overclock command into /boot/firmware/config.txt, adding arm_freq=2000, over_voltage=6 and gpu_freq=700. Maybe cause conflicts with Pironman board?

Didn’t quite understand what you meant.
Do you mean to add arm_freq=2000, over_Voltage=6, gpu_freq=700 to the end of /boot/firmware/config.txt and see if pironman changes and works?
We tried adding it and pironman didn’t have any conflicts.

I mean when I overclock gpu to 700 or 750 MHz, LEDs are freaking. If I uncomment the line in config.txt : #gpu_freq=700, save it and reboot, LEDs came back to normal. Does GPU signal pass through Pironman board? Or by overclocking RPI, it reduce power to pironman’s board?

I’m very sorry, but we haven’t reproduced your problem at the moment.
Our tutorial does not suggest to add arm_freq=2000, over_Voltage=6, gpu_freq=700 to the end of /boot/firmware/config.txt.
Overclocking the GPU affects the power consumption of the Raspberry Pi, so theoretically it will also affect the power consumption of the pironman motherboard.

Is there possible to plug 2 power supplies, one on RPI and one on Pironman board?
