Using a square LVDS display for embedded dashboards — looking for setup ideas

Hi everyone,

I’ve been experimenting with different display options for an embedded dashboard project and recently tried a square-format 8.82-inch 768×768 LVDS TFT LCD display.
Here’s the reference module I’m using:

What caught my interest is the 1:1 aspect ratio, which feels great for compact control interfaces or status panels. It gives a clean and balanced layout compared to typical widescreen displays.

Since most of the boards I work with — like Raspberry Pi, ESP32, and Jetson Nano — mainly offer HDMI or DSI outputs, I’m currently exploring HDMI-to-LVDS driver boards to pair with this panel.
The goal is to build a simple dashboard that can show system data, gauges, and touch-based menus in a perfectly square format.

I’d love to hear from anyone who has:

  • Used LVDS displays for embedded UI or control projects

  • Tried square panels for dashboards or simulators

  • Found efficient driver boards for LVDS panels with Raspberry Pi or other SBCs

If you have any setup tips, driver suggestions, or design ideas, feel free to share — always happy to exchange notes on display integration projects!

Thanks for reading, and I’ll post an update once I’ve completed the UI layout and enclosure.
