how do i increase the speaker volume in picar-x?
The volume level of the robot hat speakers varies with the volume level of your system, so if you turn up the volume of your system, the volume of the robot hat speakers will also increase.
I installed a new robot-hat a few weeks ago and it worked great but several weeks later now the volume is very faint. The speaker volume control (upper right corner of the GUI) is peged at the top but TTS (i.e. ‘Beep beep beep !’ from tts_example is bearly audable (but there) and music (‘q’) can’t be heard at all unless I crank the music_set_volume to 100 and then it is very still faint. I haven’t touched my picar-x since I install the hat, can’t understand what’s happened. Has anyone experienced this?
Please turn the Robot HAT over and check if the speaker is damaged. Kindly provide us with clear images.
Please reinstall and run the i2samp.sh script again:
cd ~/picar-x
sudo bash i2samp.sh
After restarting the Raspberry Pi, try running the sound example. Remember to use sudo before running the script to see if it produces sound.
Another possible issue could be that if a metal heatsink is installed on the Raspberry Pi CPU, it might be pressing against the speaker diaphragm, preventing it from producing sound.
Thanks! Re-running i2samp & rebooting restored the sound level. After initially installing the HAT I didn’t remove it or the Pi4, so didn’t expect that there would be any damage to the speaker.
