Just assembled Pironman 5 Max case with NVME. I removed the vibration sensor jumper, but when I tap the case of the booted and running Pironman 5 Max, power shuts down, Pi goes to sleep. The only way to wake it up is a 2 second power button press. Seems to be the reverse of wake. I have the latest software installed.

Thank you for reporting this. First, here are two reference behaviors for comparison:
1. **Correct power button behavior**: short press = power on / wake the OLED; hold for **2 seconds** = safe shutdown (the OLED shows **POWER OFF**); hold for **5 seconds** = forced shutdown.
2. **Vibration sensor**: it is designed for “tap-to-wake” (tapping the case wakes up the OLED). However, we later found that this feature can cause unknown conflicts in certain situations, so for safety we now recommend all users **remove the vibration sensor jumper** to completely disable it. With the jumper removed, the vibration sensor should not work at all.
Following this logic, if the correct jumper has been removed, tapping the case should not trigger anything. Since your machine still shuts down when tapped, the behavior is very likely unrelated to the vibration sensor. Please help us check the following:
1. Please confirm the jumper you removed is the **vibration sensor jumper** (a photo posted in the thread would be very helpful). If a different jumper was removed, the sensor would still be active.
2. When the tap causes the shutdown, please watch the OLED:
If the screen shows **POWER OFF** and the system goes through a **normal shutdown process** → the system received a “hold for 2 seconds” shutdown signal (the power button being falsely triggered), which is related to the button/case assembly or signal interference, and we can look into it further;
If the power **cuts off instantly** (no shutdown screen) → the tap is more likely causing a poor power connection, unrelated to the sensor. Please make sure the case’s power connector is firmly plugged in, and try the official 27 W PD power supply with a different USB-C cable.
3. You also mentioned that “the only way to wake it up is a 2 second power button press”: with the correct software, a short press powers on / wakes the OLED, while holding for 2 seconds is actually the safe-shutdown gesture. Please double-check that the Pironman5 software is installed correctly (run `sudo pironman5 -v` to check the version and `systemctl status pironman5` to check the service), and let us know what the OLED shows when the shutdown happens.
Once we have the photo and these observations, we’ll be able to determine whether it’s a configuration issue or a hardware issue.

Here is what each of these jumpers does:
- **J4 = vibration switch jumper**: We can confirm that J4 is the jumper for the vibration switch (tap-to-wake/shutdown). On your unit J4 was cut at the factory, which means the vibration switch is **disabled by default** — there is nothing further you need to do for it.
- **J3 = IR receiver (IR RECV) jumper**: J3 connects the IR receiver. You only need J3 installed if you want to set up your own IR remote to control the Pironman5; otherwise leaving it off has no effect.
Since the vibration switch (J4) is already disabled from the factory and you have removed the IR jumper (J3), a tap that still shuts the machine down is **most likely not caused by the vibration switch**. The issue is more likely one of the following. Please tell us what the OLED shows at the moment the tap shuts the machine down:
- If it shows **POWER OFF** and goes through a normal shutdown → the system received a shutdown signal, likely the **power button being falsely triggered or an assembly issue** (check the case assembly to make sure the shell isn’t pressing the power button);
- If the power **cuts off instantly** (black screen, no shutdown screen) → more likely a **poor power connection** — check that the power connector is firmly plugged in, and try the official 27 W PD supply or a different USB-C cable.

Thank you for your reply. When the machine shuts down when tapped, there is no indication on the OLED, nothing at all the unit simply shuts down. I ordered and installed a new power supply just in case there was a problem with that, but after replacing the power supply thenproblem persists, it still shuts down when tapped on the case. The new power supply I ordered is this one:

It seems the issue is not with the power adapter but likely due to poor contact inside the case — the USB-HDMI board may not be seated stably on the Raspberry Pi.
Please power off, disassemble the Pironman 5, and re-seat the USB-HDMI board firmly. Then tap the case gently to see if the shutdown still occurs. If it does, try removing other expansion boards one by one to isolate the cause.
Thank you for your continued support. As you mentioned, I checked my assembly of the case and I found I had neglected to add in the M2.5x4+4 standoff for the NVME drive. The drive board was bent slightly and making poor contact with its socket. I added in the standoff and tightened down the screw, so now everything works great, no more shut down when tapping the case. Thanks again for your help with troubleshooting!
