Power button not working on Pironman 5

I just assembled my Sunfounder Pironman 5 with Sunfounder 27 Watt power supply and everything works great except the power button. When I press it, there is no click or anything else to confirm the button press - there is just spring tension that pushes the button back to its original position when I finish pressing. Also, nothing happens with regard to the case or Raspberry Pi 5 - all the lights remain on and there is no change in operation in response to that button press. I have confirmed that the power cables for the button are properly connected per the instructions.

Please provide a video of the issue you are experiencing.

The power button is a “spring-loaded button,” which means that when you press it, it will return to its original position.

What system are you currently using?

About the Power Button:
The power button is linked to the Raspberry Pi 5’s power function and operates similarly to the Raspberry Pi 5’s power button.

Shutdown:

  • If you are running the Raspberry Pi Bookworm Desktop system, you can quickly press the power button twice to shut down.
  • If you are using the Raspberry Pi Bookworm Lite system, a single press of the power button will suffice to shut down.
  • To force a hard shutdown, press and hold the power button.

Power On:

  • If the Raspberry Pi board is turned off but still has power, a single click will turn it on from the off state.
  • If your system does not support the shutdown button, you can hold the button for 5 seconds to force a hard shutdown, and then click the button to turn it on from the off state.

I received a response from the support email saying to, “please check whether the two pins of the power switch converter are properly inserted into the external power switch interface of the Pi 5. Additionally, make sure the power button is correctly connected to the power switch converter”

It’s a very tight fit to verify those two pins. It took me two tries to disassemble and reassemble, but it works now. A single press brings up a popup with restart options. A long press reboots.

Thank you.
