PiCar-X EZBlock Studio - Wifi Won't Connect

I am attempting to setup the PiCar-X my son got for Christmas to use EZBlock Studio. I have followed all of the documentation to install the OS onto the Raspberry Pi and installed EZBlock Studio on multiple iOS devices. On every device, when I attempt to input the Wifi network credentials I get a failed connection error. I have read multiple threads in this forum to address the issue, but our Network Name and Password already only use letters and digits.

One assumption was that the Raspberry Pi Imager v2.0.3 doesn’t allow for entering Customisation info for a ‘Custom OS’ as documented ( [BUG]: OS Customization broken for custom images · Issue #1302 · raspberrypi/rpi-imager · GitHub ). In order to work around that I downloaded a legacy version of Raspberry Pi Imager v1.8.5 and installed the OS, which allowed me to configure the Wifi settings. But upon attempting to connect to the PiCar in EZBlock Studio I get a Bluetooth connection failed error.

I have tried everything I can think of to connect to my son’s PiCar without any success. Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

I just installed the Raspberry Pi OS following the PiCar directions to use Python, including all of the steps set the network info, and upon completion of the install, I see the car on our wifi network. So, again, this leads me to believe it is an issue with using the Custom IMG and the inability to set the Network credentials as part of the EZBlock OS installation process.

Again, any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

What model of Raspberry Pi are you currently using?
When writing a custom system image, please configure your username, password, and WiFi network. We recommend downloading and installing a version of Raspberry Pi Imager below 2.0 for writing the system.
If you download and install the official Raspberry Pi Imager version 2.0 or higher, you will be unable to configure the WiFi network when writing a custom system image. This is a bug in the official Raspberry Pi Imager version 2.0 and above.

Please download the 2.0.2 Beta version of the ezblock OS image system using the link below:

Configure the custom system image with your username, password, and most importantly, the WiFi network (WiFi name and password). Install it onto an SD card, insert it into the Raspberry Pi to boot. After a successful startup, the speaker will emit a loud sound, and you can then open the ezblock studio APP on your phone to connect.

Important Notes:

WiFi must be on the 2.4GHz band: Raspberry Pi + EZBlock have very poor compatibility with 5GHz WiFi. For home routers, please enable a separate 2.4GHz signal (do not merge it with the 5GHz signal under the same name).

WiFi parameters should avoid special characters: It is recommended to use only English letters, numbers, or underscores for the SSID (WiFi name) and password.
