I wanted to ask if it is possible to use the raspberry sensor AI camera Sony IMX500, 12 MP for the pidog v2?
The AI camera, while fully functional when connected to a Raspberry Pi, is not physically compatible with our metal mounting bracket.
The screw hole positions on the AI camera do not match those of the V1 and V2 camera modules. Our bracket is specifically designed based on the hole pattern of the V1 and V2 cameras.
Thanks for the reply. Looking at the specifications of version 2, it will be discontinued in two years. I’ve checked the specifications of version 3, and it says it’s the same in form as versions 1 and 2, only the camera is a bit taller. Could I use the version 3 camera? Is it compatible with Vilib?
Theoretically, the third-generation Raspberry Pi Camera Module is compatible with the PiDog software.
However, its physical installation is not compatible with the PiDog’s hardware.
Here’s an update for those researching cameras:
I asked about the Ver3 camera because the technical specifications on the official website say it maintains the same size and screw hole; the only difference is the lens height (Z-axis).
A friend lent me his Ver3 camera to test, and as the moderator mentioned, it’s also not compatible with Pidog. It maintains the same size and screw hole, but the lens is slightly larger and doesn’t fit through the metal hole.
That’s correct.
If you insist on using the Ver3 camera, the only way is to find a method to secure it properly.
For example, you can try fixing it firmly with double-sided tape, or cut the metal sheet around the camera mount to allow the entire camera to be fixed in place.
