Pironman 5 case fans not spinning

Hello all,

i need some help with the case fans for the Pironman5.
I installed everything and the leds/ display work perfectly.
only the case fans wont spin and give only a small red glow when plugged in, the diode which shows if it is turned on dims per case fan that is plugged in. the fans do this both when installed and when left loose. when given the straight 5v / gnd from the board they work fine.

in the dashboard it says they are turned on and changing the fan speed / temp turn on in terminal it does not change anything. the diode does change state as seen in the dashboard.
i would apprieciate any help / feedback.

I have exactly the same problem. I’m unsure whether this is a connection/wiring issue or a device issue, so I’m commenting here to be notified of any potential solutions. Now that my dashboard is actually working I’ve confirmed that even on “always on” the rgb fans are not turning on or spinning.

Ok in my case it turns out I stupidly reversed the polarity on the connections. + and - wires were reversed (I didn’t actually notice the markings on the board and just put them in the order I was seeing in the instructions). I was also not seeing any glow, so this isn’t a fix for Finn, but if anyone else has this issue (back fans and rgb never turning on), double check your wire connections.

We suggest you provide us with a video of the problem so that we can help you analyze and solve the problem.
After you set the RGB fan mode to “always on” on the dashboard, please check the working status of the two RGB fans, if they don’t work properly, as Alterion said, please check if the fans are wired correctly. Please make sure all the connectors on the IO expansion board are connected properly.
If you confirm the wiring is correct, please connect the RGB fan wires directly to the 5V and GBD pins of the GPIO, and see if the RGB fan can work normally.
If it works properly, there may be a problem with the IO expansion board, please use a multimeter to measure the two sets of RGB fan pins on the IO expansion board to see what the operating voltage is, and let us know.
Please also use a power adapter specifically designed to power the PI5, such as the official PI5 power adapter.

Thank you for the response!

im using a Official raspberri pi power supply. the 5v 27w.

the fan pin is always on (not on pironman dash), so is the diode. as the diode shines it gives a voltage of 4.6v when plugging 1 fan in voltage drops to 0,99v (explains the red glow) ad the diode dims greatly. changing GPIO fan mode in terminal does nothing. checked the board and it is mounted on the pi correctly.

even when removing the fan jumper the diode is on. after looking at voltages my guess is a broken transistor (looks like 1 is in between).

i hope this clears some things.

i can only upload 1 picture and no video at a time because im new sorry, if you want a video i can send it direct.

An aftermarket person will contact you later via your email to send you a replacement IO expansion board. Let’s see if this solves the problem.
