Pironman 5 Disk total display is 4.6TB for a 1TB M.2 disk

Pironman 5 Disk total display is 4.6TB for a 1TB M.2 disk…

  • All the other OLED display items seems fairly accurate (8GB RAM shows as 7.8GB but thats minor)
  • Rasberry Pi 5, 8GB
  • Pironman 5 new case bought this week
  • Disk: Kingston KC3000 | Amazon: Kingston KC3000 PCIe 4.0 NVMe M.2 SSD - High-Performance Storage for Desktop and Laptop PCs -SKC3000S/black 1024GB
  • OS: Home Assistant 14.1
  • Pi Config Wizard installed as per documentation as well as the Pironman addon.
  • All LEDs are working fine including the M.2 HAT

Not sure if related; but after a few reboots and testing everything, I got the following error in the dasboard for pironman 5
(error only occured once)
25/01/24 21:53:01.665 [WARNING] Failed to create gpiochip4 symlink

Everything else seems to be working fine.

I changed my installation to the following:

  1. Raspberry Pi 5 Latest Linux Bookworm v12
  2. Installed the Pironman5 software

Now everything works perfectly and the HDD size is correctly supported.

HA is installed on a docker container, not least of which was due to this issue but running the pi with HAOS is just too limiting.

Thanks for the feedback, this is not a common issue, can you send us a screenshot of the error message and we will try to reproduce the issue and fix it.

Unfortunately I did not manage to get a screenshot prior to wiping the pi.

Also, after getting everything working I just checked the error log and moved on. I have noted the log clears quite rapidly. I did not go looking for a log file for history and I could not see in your documentation where the log file is kept.

If you share that then I will check my updated install for you.

Finally : now that it’s working I’m very impressed with your product. I love the fact that I have the fans coming in at 50degC and all the colours. The build quality is great but I was worried a few times about making a correct connection with the flimsy ribbon cables : I did not want to dismantle this thing afterwards!!

The battery though : how are we going to replace it once it dies in a few years? Please put that in your FAQ section!

FYI: I had to disconnect the hdd in order to change the boot sequence : this is a limitation of home assistant and not yours. Fortunately the ribbon cable was reachable after removing the side panel 4 screws and operation was pretty easy. Now that I have debian installed I don’t have this limitation any longer (HAOS is in a docker container)

Thanks for your feedback, we’ll add some replacement details to put in the FAQ afterward.
