Pironman5 LCD display just show "poweroff"

Hello all,

I have assembled everything and installed all the software per the instructions.

The issue I have is the display shows “poweroff” all the time. If I change the -al on it will briefly shows all the parameter, then it goes back to showing “poweroff”

Am I missing something?

Thanks
Patrick

1.We suggest you provide us with the problem video, so that we can analyze and help solve the problem.
2.Please confirm if the assembly is correct and complete, please refer to our assembly video link:2. Assembly Instructions — SunFounder Pironman documentation
3.What specification of power adapter are you currently using?

This is likely because you’d installed the Pironman v2.0 code and not the Pironman 5 code. Same thing happened to me…

If you are using pironman5, downloading and installing the pironman V2 code will not allow the pironman5 functionality to work properly.

Therefore, please follow the tutorial link provided for pironman5 to download and install the pironman5 software:Set Up Pironman5 on Raspberry Pi/Ubuntu/Kali OS — SunFounder Pironman documentation

if oled dipley shows power off
Open this script in Python and edit its contents.
sudo nano /opt/pironman/main.py

read config section

find the line: screen_always_on = False
and change it to : screen_always_on = True
save the file
run the script : sudo python3 /opt/pironman/main.py
and done

I’ll add a quick note here also.
The reason it fails, is because the code testing if power button was pressed, will incorrectly conclude that “power button is pressed” ALL THE TIME.
Once I disabled that part of the script, the display correctly shows live stats.

As other people have pointed out, it may be because we are mixing up different variants of the various pironman utilities.
If so, I have yet to locate the “correct” script - the link provided above here is currently a dead link, unfortunately.

This is a more correct update to my post yesterday. I finally figured out, that “OLED display quickly switches to POWER OFF”is a symptom of mistakenly using the pironman4 driver software for pironman5. The older software behaves like this, because it tests for power-button presses with a wrong mechanism (for PM5), so it concludes the power button is always pressed, and thus decides to turn off the OLED display. The correct link (2025) for pironman5 driver software, isgit clone https://github.com/sunfounder/pironman5.gitYou can tell if you are using the wrong version, if your folder is called “pironman” instead of “pironman5”. The one called simply pironman, is for PM4.Even though it would be possible to fix the PM4 variant, there is no need, given that sunfounder actually provides the updated PM5 variant - provided we can figure out which one to use I put this here, because some of the existing discussions on this error, now contain dead 404 links.
