Raspberry Pi Pico does not mount

I started with my son on the Raspberry Pi Pico Smart Car Kit, but got already stuck at the first step of mounting the Pico as storage device. First a micro usb cable was provided, but also a usb-c cable is not working.

At first we where thinking that we maybe used a load cable only, but connected to a mobile it directly works (so cable should be good).

We followed the instruction:

  • press and hold the bootsel button ( in our version: run button)
  • connect the usb cable
  • release bootsel when mount
but mount as storage device never happens
First the D5 led burns and after a few seconds is starts flashing.

Anybody an idea how to solve this?

Hi Bart, welcome to the forum

You might want to check out this page here.
It seems that the Pico sometimes is doing picky things to be detected as storage in windows…

Please follow the steps in the tutorial link:
Install MicroPython on Your Pico.

If possible, please provide us with a video of the process to help us analyze and resolve the issue.

If the Pico is not recognized, try using a different USB port on your computer. Additionally, please check if your micro USB cable supports data transfer. If the cable only provides power and does not support data transfer, it will not be able to connect and recognize the Pico.

Case closed, we mixed up the Raspberry PI pico RDP as being the pico :face_with_peeking_eye:
