Raspberry Pi Won't Boot with PiCar-x Hat Installed

Hello,

I recently bought a PiCar-X kit and was able to get everything working. I then ran a piece of code to set the steering servo angle to 45 degrees, and then the PiCar stopped working. Now I am unable to get the Raspberry Pi to boot when the PiCar hat is installed (on the Raspberry Pi only the red power light comes on, with no green lights. The rest of the lights on the PiCar hat seem to be working properly.)

I removed the SSD and did a fresh OS install, which can boot properly when the PiCar hat is removed from my Raspberry Pi. However, reinstalling the PiCar hat resulted in no activity from the Raspberry Pi (same issue, only the red power light comes on, with no green lights).

Is this indicative of a hardware issue with the PiCar hat itself?

It is highly likely that incorrect module wiring has caused a short circuit on the expansion board. Please carefully check the wiring diagram in the assembly manual and confirm whether all modules are correctly connected.

We recommend providing a video of the issue so that we can help you further analyze and resolve the problem.

The solution was to charge the battery. Somehow the battery had enough charge to light up all of the lights on both the PiCar-X hat and the Raspberry Pi, but not enough to actually power on the Raspberry Pi.

It is recommended to provide a video of the issue for our review, which will help us analyze and resolve the problem for you.

If the video file size is too large, we suggest uploading the recorded video to OneDrive, sharing the video link with us, and granting us access permission.

Additionally, please use a multimeter to measure and provide the battery voltage before charging and after charging.
