Recharging batteries on PiCar-x

Recently I bought Picar-X. I’m playing with it, and it seems everything is ok.
However, I cannot figure out how to recharge the batteries. I found similar question on this forum and the explanation was to use 5V/2A charger with Type-C conection and plug it to the Type-C port of robot hat. But on my hat there is no Type-C port!
My hat looks like the one shown on the web documentation page : About Robot HAT — SunFounder picar-x documentation. Also there is no Type-C connection.
Is it maybe that there are different versions of robot hats and I received some old version (although I bought PiCar-x some 6 months ago).
Is there any solution in order to be able to recharge the batteries through the robot hat?
Thank you
Kreso

We suggest that you provide us with a picture of the robot hat. If your robot hat does not have a Type-C interface, it indicates that you have purchased an older version of the Picar-X product.

Additionally, this version of Picar-X does not come with a battery. You will need to supply two 18650 3.7V rechargeable lithium batteries and a charger for those batteries.

That’s really shame that I obtained an older version. I purchased it this year in April over Digikey. I had no idea that this was with older version of hat. No information on that on their web page.

So the only way is to take out batteries from robot every time they empy and recharge them with separe charger?

Are there any other differencies/shortcomings which I can expect with this older version of hat?

That’s right. After the battery is depleted, it needs to be removed for charging. The old version of the robot hat is not compatible with the Raspberry Pi 5.
