Alignment issue

Folks, I am thrilled with this Pironman5 case, and when I originally saw the alignment issue I dismissed it as a non-issue… But now I am revisiting this because there’s clearly something not right here…

I was EXTREMELY careful in putting together my prionman 5 so I am certain I followed the instructions to the letter, including the correct standoffs, and yet… How do I correct this alignment issue for the MicroSD slot without bending anything?

Sorry there may be some misalignment.
The SD expansion board can be assembled into the slot of the metal casing, and it will not affect its functionality.

Thank you for responding so quickly, but I am not sure regarding the statement -

“The SD expansion board can be assembled into the slot of the casing”

So, how do I “assemble the SD expansion board into the slot of the casing”?

(Currently the very end of the SD expansion board stops just short of the slot of the casing, so it never quite reaches the actual slot. I could leave the SD expansion board pulled ever so slightly out of the RPI so the end of it actually does make it into the slot, but the SD expansion board is screwed into place so I’d have to do a little delicate surgery on the SD expansion card screw holes, possibly making them more oval shaped - ???) then I guess I could put a tiny sliver of plastic on each side of the SD slot to make it centered into the slot in the case…

Is that what you really meant? Ugh what a PITA…

Your thoughts?

I apologize for any confusion in our previous response.

What I meant to convey is that when you assemble the components according to the normal process, the SD expansion board may not align perfectly with the center of the metal casing. However, this does not affect normal operation.

As you mentioned, the end of the D expansion board just reaches the slot of the casing, meaning it never fully engages with the actual slot. We designed it this way to prevent the end of the SD expansion board from extending beyond the plane of the casing. This design also ensures that the insertion and removal of the SD card remain unaffected.

We do not recommend pulling the SD expansion board slightly out from the RPI, as this may cause incomplete contact between the expansion board’s contacts and the SD interface of the PI5. This could lead to issues with SD card recognition when inserted.

Thank you for your understanding.

So what is the solution to get it into proper alignment?

It is not recommended to align the SD extension board in the center, as this would require raising it from below, which could put pressure on the PI5’s SD interface and potentially damage it.

The SD card can be inserted and removed normally from the SD extension board, so centering it is not advisable. Instead, the SD extension board should lean toward one side of the case, providing a support point.

So you are saying to leave it out of alignment and just live with it because… too bad?
