Hi!
have just finished building PIcar-X with my rsbpi5.0 and feels like there is a problem with the camera module.
I was thinking that the image from the camera is too dark, since it was hard to see anything without turning extra lights on, but then I noticed, that it is actually shifted to the blue.
The cable is well connected on both sides and was double-checked and reattached couple of times with no effect on the image. The only thing I noticed is:
camera is not glued to its board and is only fixed through a short connector cable. So it is quite flimsy and I can see that the protective film on the 3M tape underneath the camera module is still there.
So the two questions are:
- Is there anything I can do to fix the image?
- Should I remove the protective film from the 3M tape to stick the camera to the camera board?
Regards!
1.You make sure the lens cable of the camera module is connected well, unplug the lens again, then tear off the tape and stick it on the camera board to fix it, and then start the system to see if the camera screen is displayed normally.
2. Suggest you provide the camera wiring picture to us to see.
Hello,
Here are some photos of the cable connections.
I’ve noticed that when it is very bright around, the camera shows quite uniform RGB distribution on the white paper.
But as soon as it is getting darker blue starts to dominate.
And here is a quick example of phone camera vs picar-x camera. I’m not expecting the same picture quality of course, but for me it still looks like something is wrong.

In the picture you provided, is the FPC cable head a crease? Or is it some other foreign object.
If it is a crease, it may be caused by the FPC cable.
If it’s not a crease, maybe the camera is faulty, we will send you a new camera to see if it can solve the problem.
It is hard to tell, what it was exactly, but definitely not a crease. Looks like a reflection of another end of the FPC cable.
I’ve attached the camera back to the car but I hope it can be seen that the cable connector is flat.
An after-sales person will contact you through your email address later to send you a replacement camera. Let’s see if this solves the problem.
