Pidog v2 with Halo+ 2

Has anyone successfully installed the Halo+2 with a pi5 and pidog v2.

In theory, it is possible to connect — there should be no issue with the physical connection. However, we apologize that we have not tested this ourselves, nor do we have any relevant examples available.

Hi, can you tell me if the Sunfounder PiDog HAT v2 - 40 way connector, is 2 components ?

More exactly is it a soldered 40 way male connection with a 40 way - female to female plugged into it ?

I’d like to know before I try too hard to separate what may in fact be one component !!

This is a tall version (stacking header) of the 40‑pin GPIO header, and it cannot be separated. The purpose of using this tall header is to leave enough space for adding an Active Cooler onto the Raspberry Pi for heat dissipation.

Thank you for your quick response.

OK ! Good that I didn’t try any harder to separate it :joy:

I am going to install the Raspberry Pi AI HAT+2, which will now mean an addition connector. Raising the height of the PiDog HAT considerably !! But I think it will be OK.

I’m glad this information was helpful to you in time. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Yes, this tall version of the 40-pin GPIO header is specifically designed to leave room for additional expansion modules, so it is not recommended to force it apart.

If you later install the Raspberry Pi AI HAT+2, the overall height will indeed increase a bit, but from both an interface and clearance perspective, it should generally work fine.

We suggest you pay attention to the following when installing:

Make sure the 40-pin header is fully seated.

Ensure there is no mechanical stress between the AI HAT+2 and the PiDog HAT.

Secure the expansion board properly to avoid shaking or movement.

If you add multiple expansion boards, keep an eye on overall power delivery and heat dissipation.

Your setup sounds like it will be a very interesting PiDog AI project!
