Hi
I have bee using my Pionman 5 w/4MB Pi 5 now for quite some time and I am very happy with it.
I have it setup to boot from the NVMe drive.
I would now like to upgrade the Pi 5 Board to a 8MB RAM Version.
What are the steps I need to take to do this?
Regards
Warren
Thank you for your message! Do you mean the Raspberry Pi 5 with 4GB of RAM, not 4MB?
To upgrade from the 4GB version to the 8GB version, you will need to purchase the Raspberry Pi 5 8GB board, as it cannot be upgraded through software tools. The RAM on the Raspberry Pi 5 is soldered directly to the board, so it cannot be replaced or upgraded independently.
Hi there
Yes 4GB. I have purchased the 8GB Pi 5, when I swap it over, what do I need to do to get it to boot from my SSD as by default it will be the Micro SD
ie. EEPROM settings
Is that all I need to change?
Regards
After you boot the system using the SD card, follow the steps in the linked guide to set it up:
I built my Pironman5 Max with a 16GB Pi5, and it seems faster than the original Pironman5 I have. I don’t mean a synthetic benchmark, but do the things I do, it seems to respond quicker.
