Pironman 5 -- CPU usage too high

Hi,

I’m a new user of the Pironman5 case, and I love it, it’s an amazing little case that fits almost all my needs.

I’ve been tinkering with it for a few days now, and I find the pironman5.service process to always use more than 2% of my cpu, often spiking to more than 8%. It’s not much, but it prevents the cpu from going into lower cpu state, keeping it boosted at 2400MHz at almost all time, increasing energy consumption which, in my use case, is an important parameter.

Are you aware of this issue ? Do you have a solution ? Is there a way to decrease the polling rate of the daemon so that it only fetches sensor data every few seconds, maybe that will fix the issue ? I tried changing the “data_interval” in config.json but it only changes the display’s refresh rate, not the actual polling rate.

Have a nice day.

Under normal operating conditions, CPU usage typically exceeds 2% but generally stays within 4%. The frequency also usually remains around 1700 MHz.

However, your CPU frequently spikes above 8% and almost consistently runs at a high frequency of 2400 MHz?
Are you running any other software besides the Pironman5 application?

If you wish to reduce CPU and RAM usage, you can disable the web dashboard feature.
For instructions, please refer to: FAQ — SunFounder Pironman 5 documentation

The commands to disable it are as follows:

/opt/pironman5/venv/bin/pip3 uninstall pm-dashboard influxdb
sudo apt purge influxdb
sudo systemctl restart pironman5

Hi !

Thank you for your quick response, I do really appreciate the time and devotion you give to the community.
Disabling the web dashboard reduced the spikes, my CPU now almost consistently runs at 800MHz when idling. I quite liked this interface for monitoring purposes, but it was not mission critical.

Have a nice day, and happy new year !
