Pironmax 5 Max and Google Coral M.2

Hi,

I recently bought a Pironman 5 Max and I am very happy with it. It boots without any problem with a NVME SSD. However, when I installed a Coral M.2 in the second pcie slot, the OS does not boot anymore with the NVME SSD. When executing lspci (after booting with an sdcard), I do not see the NVME SSD neither the Coral M.2.

Is the Coral M.2 incompatible with the Pironman 5 Max ?

Thanks in advance

Please send us the output of lspci. Besides the NVMe SSD and Coral, we should also check whether the ASM1182 PCIe switch is detected.

If the ASM1182 is present:

Please make sure the PWR LED on the NVMe adapter board is lit, and ensure that the auxiliary power extension header is correctly connected.

Try removing the Coral to see if the SSD can still be detected, or remove the SSD and connect only the Coral to see if it can be detected.

If the ASM1182 is not present, the PCIe cable might be loose or damaged. Please try reseating the PCIe FPC cable, or try replacing it with another one.

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

I alteady executed lspci after booting with the sdcard. It showed nothing.

I sent back the Coral M.2 to the shop I bought it.

I think I found the problem: the Coral M.2 is of type A/E. The slot only accept type M. To connect the Coral M.2, I need an adapter. Am I correct ?

I found a Coral M.2 with a type M from Seeedstudio. May be this one will work fine with the Pironman 5 Max.

Best regards

Yes, our interface is M-key. However, we haven’t tested this Coral M.2 SSD ourselves. Could you let us know the results after you test it? We can then document it.

Dear all,

Just to let you know that I succeeded to install a SeeedStudio M2 coral TPU with the PIRONMAN 5 Max.

https://www.amazon.fr/seeed-studio-B-key-Accelerator/dp/B0CY2C6FV4/ref=asc_df_B0CY2C6FV4?tag=bingshoppin0f-21&linkCode=df0&hvadid=79989677911807&hvnetw=o&hvqmt=e&hvbmt=be&hvdev=c&hvlocint=&hvlocphy=126825&hvtargid=pla-4583589143151121&psc=1&msclkid=242e05219b6a1f70b1816c84d4579a1f

It has a B+M Key instead of a A+E key.

So problem is fully solved !

By the way, it would be a good idea to add a TPU compatibility list on your website like what you did for the NVME SSD. This will help a lot future customers.

I really enjoyed building the PIRONMAN 5 MAX.

Best regards,
