I have a Galaxy RVR kit and have been making various programming changes and mods using the Arduino IDE. Now the only way my RVR powers up is when connected via USB cable. It is fully charged and the switch is in the on position but if I unplug the USB cable it powers off. What am I missing?
We suggest providing a video of the issue for us to better analyze and help you solve the problem.
After fully charging the battery, could you measure the battery voltage with a multimeter?
Also, please measure the battery voltage when the device is off, and then again when it’s on.
When you first used the Mars rover, did it operate normally, or was it already experiencing this issue?
I measured the voltage of the battery and it was only showing ~2.4v from pins 1-3 and ~0v from 1-2. The battery connection to the shield must have come loose and it wasn’t charging after all. I’m still a bit confused about the LEDs regarding charging. When I re-seated the battery and plugged-in the USB-C cable the red led was solid and one orange led lit (not blinking) After some time both orange leds lit (not blinking) and the red led went out. After more time the red led began blinking and the orange leds remained lit. Battery volatge now reads ~8.3v pins 1-3 and ~4.2v pins 1-2. The RVR now works when switched on.
We recommend that you provide a video of the issue for us to review. Please check if the connection between the battery and the expansion board is loose, which may be causing the charging and startup issues.
When you connect the battery and turn on the expansion board switch, gently shake the battery connector to see if it feels loose.
