I would be happy to send the log files over if you would explain how to do that since this forum won’t allow the upload of compressed files…
1.We have attempted kernel upgrades to versions 6.6.51 and 6.6.47, and successfully installed our Pironman 5 software. All functions of the Pironman 5 are working correctly, and the PC dashboard is also accessible and functioning normally. We do not understand the steps you have taken.
2.Please open the file manager and copy all log files into a folder. Package the folder and provide it to us so that we can analyze the issue through the logs (as shown in the image). If the files are large, please upload the packaged file to OneDrive, share the link with us, and grant us access permissions.
You may access the archive of my log files at this link
I realise that English is possibly not your first language, but you must stop taking things so personally. I did not take any “steps” as you put it, it is merely what happened during normal use and updating procedures.
I have been working in electronics and computing for over 45 years, so I know how to package log files. May I suggest that you change to forum software that allows the direct upload of files for the convenience of you and your users?
Thank you for your suggestion; we will consider using forum software.
From your log for the Pironman service you started on September 25 at 16:13:28.
It’s strange; everything seems to be normal. All modules on the dashboard are functioning properly.
Please try manually running the Pironman 5 service from the command line to see if there are any issues or error messages:
Stop the Pironman 5 background service
sudo systemctl stop pironman5.service
Manually run the Pironman 5 service
sudo pironman5 start
After running this, you will see many logs. Try opening the dashboard page to check for any error messages. If it still doesn’t open, and if your Raspberry Pi has a desktop environment, you can access the desktop, open a browser, and attempt to access the page locally to see if it opens.
My Pironman5 is running fine and has been running fine since my post of 10 days ago when I re-installed the software. I have no idea why you are seeing the logs start from the 25th September as I have had my Pironman5 up and running since I built it at the end of July!! The only hiccups that have happened since then were all to do with updating!
The issue with the RGB fan control was indeed caused by the kernel version.
However, if you update the kernel or install the specified kernel version now, the RGB fans can be controlled normally. This problem has been resolved.
We have tested it, and both kernel versions 6.6.47 and 6.6.51 allow for normal control of the RGB fans, and the PC dashboard is accessible without issues.
Are you currently unable to access the PC dashboard with pironman5? If you reinstall the operating system and then install pironman5, are you still unable to access the PC dashboard?
Please reread the first sentence of my last post!
The PC Dashboard is working fine also.
Ok, the same thing happened today after today’s update package was downloaded and installed (using the built-in RasPiOS updater)
(this was after rebooting twice)
SOLVED! To get the Pironman5 dashboard web page working again requires a FULL POWER DOWN and then restart and the page comes up fine straight away.
A simple restart/reboot results in the above screen.
This leads me to believe that the problem may be with the controller chip on the expander board that needs to be shutdown completely after an update such as this because a restart doesn’t actually power that chip down.
Looks like I spoke too soon
It is still doing it.
It would seem that the Pironman5 service is not starting up correctly…
Ok, REALLY SOLVED this time. Getting it working again involved completely uninstalling the Pironman5 software and doing a re-install from scratch and a final reboot. The dashboard comes up properly now and all the fans and light controls work—apologies for the multiple posts.
The current solution is to lower the kernel version. Execute the following command:
sudo rpi-update 44a287fe97c04506841fe3b3e794c70a2e01c7de
Then restart the Pironman 5 and try to control the RGB fan again.
When will there be a proper fix for this so I can update my Pi 5 System to the latest version?
I recently update the kernel with the latest and everything work fine.
Regarding my last post, this has nothing to do with the backdate/update kernel thing. I already did that long ago. My post refers to the dashboard failing to load properly due to the service not starting correctly.
I’m sorry for you, I don’t know what to say to help you. I didn’t get any issue about dashboard, it always work great for me. Also when I access it through my cellphone browser.
No need for the sorrow I don’t need any help with it as I am perfectly capable of sorting the issue myself. I was just reporting it here in case someone else suffered the same issue.
I have same issue than you, about dashboard, all is updated, Pironman5 software freshly reinstalled and reboot. No access to dashboard, I close browser, open terminal and restart Pironman5 service : sudo systemctl restart pironman5.service and then dashboard work. But if I reboot pi5, I need to restart Pironman5 service.
Weirdyguy:that’s quite strange.
On our end, we tested it and everything is functioning normally. I reinstalled the Bookworm system on my SD card and executed the following commands:
sudo apt update
sudo apt upgrade
This updated the system to the latest kernel version 6.6.51+rpt-rpi-2712. After that, I installed the pironman5 software and restarted the PI5.
I was able to access the PC dashboard directly with no issues and could control everything as expected. According to your description, after restarting pironman5 or power cycling the device, you should be able to access the PC dashboard successfully without needing to execute the command to restart the software service:
sudo systemctl restart pironman5.service
At last! Someone who saw the same thing happen. In the end, the only way I could stop it was to delete everything related to Pironman5 on the system (since there is no uninstall functionality!!) and then do a complete install of the Pironman5 software from scratch again. This got it all working as normal and has been fine ever since.

@SunFounder_Moderator …but did you update the browser in each case and which browser are you using? (I always specify Chromium and NOT Firefox) Chromium has gone through quite a few updates recently and since the Dashboard uses a browser window, maybe that is the cause?
I use chromium, updated and chrome on my android smartphone. So the problem isn’t the browser. I’ll try to delete all Pironman5 files and reinstall it.
